Professional Background

Kevin’s professional career started in the music industry. Over a period of 12 years he worked in record label management, produced and released music for several artists and labels, and performed nationally and internationally as a professional DJ. During this time he cultivated skills that serve him well as a barrister, including business management, delivering under pressure, negotiation, and communication across diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Influenced by experiences from his childhood and motivated by a desire to use his strengths to help others, Kevin went on to train as a social worker. During his studies he was nominated by his university faculty for the Ede & Ravenscroft Award for Academic Excellence, and was later awarded the NHS Heart of England Award for Professional Innovation. He gained experience in both child and adult social work, providing a diverse range of professional experiences which have informed his work as a barrister.

Kevin has been instructed in a range of proceedings, including being led by King’s Counsel in two family law cases in the High Court. He was also led by King’s Counsel in the Court of Protection in the landmark case of MK v Somerset County Council, and was instructed as junior counsel in the widely reported R v Liverpool & Bradshaw, a two week trial involving the conspiracy to kidnap and murder the singer, songwriter and actress, Joss Stone.
